Turmoil

I am running, no giant strides
Mere mindless getaways
Above me, azure skies etched in gold
The reminiscing stars lured by the silver moon
But blindly squinting, I run
Roads unfolding, lined with oaks and elms
Stretching into the infinities, springing new life
But all I feel is the piercing thorns and my bleeding soles
Horizons with forgotten rendezvous
The light blue seas, the salt stinging my eyes
And the shores, quicksand, beneath my heavy feet
The cool breezes, sending trickling perspiration
Sounds of the whispering clouds,
deafened by the panting
And I run
Sunk in an illusion of profanity
People, lust, jobs, buildings, qualifications hovering over me
Consigned to a pragmatic oblivion
An unending quest for happiness
But all the while missing the tiny things and the little moments
