TIPS TO ACE THAT JOB INTERVIEW

After days of waiting. You finally get that call. You are amongst the chosen ones!

But what now? How prepared is prepared enough though? Are you ready to face your first ever job interview?

I’ve compiled a few things to keep in mind for the interview –

Number 1 : Practice, Practice, PRACTICE!

Go in front of your mirror and introduce yourself, get comfortable with SEEING yourself speak and not just hearing it. This trick can help you build that extra layer of confidence that interviewers look for. And you get to see your resting “bawse” face 😉

Number 2 : DRESS your best. BUT Be Comfortable.

You know what’s a BIG turn off? A person fidgeting with their clothes, a tad cute in most situations but not for interviewers. It shows that you are uncomfortable and self – conscious. Dress to kill but take comfort into consideration too. If those heels make you walk like a duck, opt for a comfy yet professional pair of flats

Number 3: Who am I? “The brief intro about yourself”

Yeah.. been there, done that. It is completely normal for your mind to go blank when people ask this question.  Why do interviewers ask this though? Even though they probably know everything that is on the resume. Your personality, Are you an introvert? Do you like to influence change? Your verbal skills, Your interests, How you see yourself. PETS!? (Just

kidding) So don’t be a robot and start reading your CV out loud. Tell them something more that describes YOU.

Number 4: It’s all about Eye contact

Look them in the EYES! Shows you’re focused, confident and paying attention. Don’t be looking around the room like a helicopter. Up your volume and Speak up!

Number 5 : Keep it short and sweet. Don’t volunteer any useless information.

Unless they ask you to further explain something in particular, don’t go on and on and on and on and onnn. Take a deep breath and Keep it direct and relevant.

Number 6 : Weaknesses?

Odds are they might hit you with the classic “What are your strengths / weaknesses?”, and I’m sure you will find more than enough positives to tell about yourself. But weaknesses? My advice…Be honest. don’t try to play the classic weakness that is also an INDIRECT strength card. They have seen that enough in this day and age. Speak your truth and tell them how you have found solutions to work and pass it. Shows your keen to learn and grow as an individual.

Number 7 : Question Time

THE END! Finally! Interviewers will literally hand over the mic to you. When they ask – “ So, Do you have any questions for us?” and then there’s your chance.. to ASK ANYTHING you need to know.. For one, it’s better to clear any doubts at the start. Or even if it’s just to get to know what the work environment is like.. What opportunities you will have by

diving head first into this company… And second, It shows you’re ACTUALLY interested. Curious about more than just doing your job, getting paid and going home.

HOPE THIS HELPS!
