- SRI LANKAN CRICKETERS FACE CONSEQUENCES FOR BREAKING QUARANTINE REGULATIONS.
Cricketers Danushka Gunathileke, Kusal Mendis and Niroshan Dickwella will be inquired today at the SLC by former Judge Nimal Dissanayake and a committee. The investigation was launched by the SLC after videos of the three cricketers breaking quarantine regulations and walking in Durham circulated all over social media.
Danushka Gunathileke, Kusal Mendis and Niroshan Dickwella have all submitted written apologies to the cricket committee. The future of the cricketers’ careers will be decided today at the SLC.
- HUNT FOR UNDERAGED MAID EMPLOYERS
After the case of Hishalini and the former minister Rishan Baduideen, the Police have organized a plan to search houses in Colombo. The Police have investigated homes in Colpetty, in search of employers illegally employing underage domestic workers. The investigation was conducted following the identification of relevant information regarding the employment of underage maids was received by the police. This search operation was carried out on the 27th. The police have also searched houses in Modara.

MEN ARRESTED AFTER DEMANDING RANSOM FROM WOMAN
- An individual from Jaffna residing in England, threatened to release nudes of a 33 year old woman, following the end of their 2 year long relationship, via social media. He had demanded a ransom of 1.4 million to be paid, in order to not publish the intimate pictures. After the woman residing in Wellawatta, Sri Lanka had agreed to make an initial payment of 700,000, the man had sent two men to Union Street to collect the payment. The Police and Women and Children’s Bureau had arrested the two individuals, who were produced in the Magistrate court yesterday.
- LUNCH SHEETS BANNED
The cabinet had approved a plan to ban all non degradable lunch sheets in Sri Lanka from the 01st of August 2021.
5 men arrested
- MAN ATTACKED WITH SWORDS
An individual was severely injured after being attacked by a group of 5 men with swords and knives, in Kohuwala on the 15th of July. The 5 men had been in hiding and were arrested the day before yesterday.
The chief suspect had suspected his wife of having an affair and had followed his wife in a car he had rented. He then came across his wife and the man, and followed the man, along with four others. They then caught up with the individual and proceeded to violently attack. The chief suspect was also involved in an affair with the sister of the victim.
