380,000 individuals vaccinated islandwide with 25,000 recorded in Matara
Due to protests the government has approved the burial of covdd victims in the Soodupaththinachenai area, in Oddama, Batticaloa and Irakkamam in the Ampara district. The first burial took place on the 5th of March. Former Batticaloa District MP Ali Zahir carried out 1,001 burials in Oddamavadi, with 946 victims being Muslims, 24 Hindus, 16 Catholics and 15 Buddhists.
14 individuals tested for Covid-19 were found with Coronavirus mutations in Colombo on the 14th of July. Their test reports were sent to the Sri Lankan Ministry of Health. Colombo is now on HIGH ALERT for the spread of the new Covid-19 Mutations. The 14 patients were placed in treatment centres

DELTA VIRUS UPDATES
- 19 cases of Delta virus have been reported on the 15 of July. And most of the previous 20 cases reported in Colombo.
- It is vital to follow health regulations; wearing a mask at all times, social distancing and sanitizing.
DRIVER DEMERIT POINT SYSTEM
The police will introduce a Demerit Point System for drivers in Sri Lanka. Due to a significant increase in road accidents and collisions, this program will be launched in the near future states Senior DIG Ajith Rohana. It has been observed that small vehicles such as motorbikes and three-wheelers are the most common victims in road accidents. So modern technology will also be used to closely monitor reckless drivers who violate road safety regulations.
4 INDIVIDUALS ARRESTED FOR THE RAPE OF A 13 YEAR OLD
10 men have sexually abused a 13 year old girl in Nawalapitiya on several occasions. 4 men including the victim’s father have been arrested and taken into custody with the other 6 absconding. A woman has also been taken into custody with the charges of abetting the crime. The culprits have been produced before the Nawalapitya Magistrate court. The police have constructed a plan to carry out awareness programs island-wide, aiming to prevent child abuse and sexual violence against all children.
