Sound Up- Open Mic Night ; An evening of Poetry swapping to a night of Music
Sound Up, powered by Edinborough, was organized by AIESEC in NSBM to provide a perfect getaway for youth amidst the tough times with an exquisite mix of poetry and music brought by unique youth talents. The event was on the 23rd of July, 2022 at HomeTree Coworking, Colombo (Venue Partner) from 5PM onwards, with over 30 Performers and Guest Performers and a delegate count of more than 300. Sound Up was a memorable night for all those who were present at the event and with no doubt it was a remarkable night for AIESEC in NSBM.
What is AIESEC?
AIESEC is the world’s largest youth-led organization which has established its presence in 114 countries today with over 1 million membership base. We strive for PEACE AND FULFILLMENT OF HUMANKIND’S POTENTIAL, by developing young leaders, mainly through cross cultural exchange experiences and internship opportunities. AIESEC in Sri Lanka, initiated as a member chapter of AIESEC International, is established in over 19 reputed universities with more than 1600 members around the country.
During this calendar year, AIESEC in NSBM were able to take the initiative to bring out “Sound Up”, an open mic night for the youth amidst the challenging period.
Sound Up was organized by AIESEC in NSBM in partnership with Edinborough (Official Diamond Partner), TV Derana (Official Electronic Media Partner), Chokolaate (Youth Magazine Partner), CODZX (Youth Partner), RATHNA Ceylon Cinnamon(Silver partner) and Events by Gee (Official Event Management Partner)
The night was coloured by melodious Performers from The Voice Teens Sri Lanka such as Adithya Weliwatta, Andrew Sebastian, Tharushi Bhagya, Hesara Bandara, Hasal Dihen, Radini Fernando and Hiran Charuka , amplified by a youth band; INSASTIC, Beatboxers, Poets, group of singers and many more performers. It was a great honor to have their presence amidst the challenging times. The Jives performed by all the AIESECers from different entities who were present at the event night was able to make the event more memorable to all the other participants.
While the Performers were rocking the stage, the audience was also able to enjoy themselves with the food and beverages stalls and a Mehndi stall inside the premises.
We, AIESEC in NSBM, are thankful to the audience, performers, partners and all the other AIESECers who helped us immensely to make this event a success.
