Hi, I’m Sheramy Pilapitiya and I am a Certified Life Coach passionate about venturing on new mental health expeditions by using our own anxieties and fears as tools, transforming them into strengths. I have always loved exploring the human mind and seeking ways on how to inculcate a healthy mindset in this growing era. Hence, upon study and research, over the years, I have introduced effective theories which many have found of use to overcome vexed anxious feelings. I hope this article brings you a new knowledge to explore and appreciate the innate unique capabilities you hold!

We all have a habit of using renowned catchy phrases that we call “motivational sayings” in our daily conversations, when advising a friend and especially on social media posts. We embrace sayings that stick to our minds and rest in our hearts, said by a famed person, celebrity or any individual for that matter. It is a common feature in human nature in the modern world to do so. Why is it so? Man is not a solo creature with feelings; we need each other for survival. Though, at times our anxiety levels may hit the rocket button developing feelings of avoidant personality within us, we all know how we simply cannot endure being lonesome for too long.

There is a famous saying that goes “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”. Some of us are pretty familiar with these words ringing in our ears with every sour experience we are faced with. Yet, most often, as with most aspects in life, we tend to merely brush past the lesson instead of actually grasping its in-depth meaning. It just seems much easier to delve into someone else’s approach and build around it. One main reason for adaptable thoughts and behaviour is the need to be acknowledged, recognized and appreciated. From childhood into adulthood, we perceive role models as those who we yearn to be like someday in the future. Why follow the flock and only make lemonade when you can make zesty lemon essential oil, a nice warm cup of lemon tea and even make a delectable lemon tart or mouth-watering marmalade! What’s important is not accepting everything and worshipping all facts the world bombards on you. The choicest way to maintain and secure your mental health is to take the lemon and use it productively to suit your needs to wield best results, be it an oil, tea or other. You are your guru. You are your prayer.
