CHOOSING A WIFE IN D MAJOR
CHOOSING A WIFE IN D MAJOR
His eyes storm the room,
As the pianist moves to the D major
Selecting, analyzing, and scanning for women
Like tuxedos at a tailor's shop
Preferably the modern models of Marilyn Monroe.
Picks the pretty one with the winged eyeliner,
Somehow stumbles around to know if she’s a football fan,
Tiptoes about feminism and talks more about his job.
her choice of stilettos takes more of his attention,
her STEM degree doesn’t make his pros list,
but ‘knows how to cook’ somehow does.
Her Mercedes intimidates him,
Her self-earned promotion seems like a stretch.
When she seems unimpressed,
at how ‘he bullied in college for the fun of it’-
he shifts and switches seats to another one,
quick as if he’s on a row in French roulettes.
As to who’ll walk down the aisle to ‘Canon in D major’
The bartender ‘girl’ seems to be a good fit,
She cleans, listens and pours him another cup!
too perfect a candidate, to go unconsidered.
