Victory Beyond the Field: How AICPA and CIMA Sports Day 2024 Fostered Community, Competition, and Connection

The AICPA and CIMA Sports Day 2024 – Powered by MAS, organised by the AICPA and CIMA Students’ Society, marked an exciting beginning to the year’s events with an exhilarating display of athletic prowess and community spirit. Spanning two days, the event was held on July 13th and 20th, drawing participants from various CIMA institutes, corporate teams, and other educational institutions.

The 2024 edition featured a diverse range of sports, including badminton, basketball, swimming, cricket, and futsal, reflecting a commitment to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among students and professionals alike.

On July 13th, St. Joseph’s College Colombo buzzed with excitement as competitors engaged in intense matches of badminton, basketball, and swimming. The energy and enthusiasm were palpable as participants demonstrated their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

The following week, on July 20th, the sporting action moved to Thurstan College Sports Complex Colombo, where cricket and futsal competitions took center stage. The grounds were vibrant with spectators and supporters, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and encouragement.

The event was meticulously planned and executed, welcoming over 1000 attendees across both days. AICPA and CIMA Sports Day 2024 – Powered by MAS, provided a platform not only for competition but also for networking and building connections, further strengthening the ties within the professional community.

The culmination of the event featured the awarding of two prestigious shields. The CIMA Institute Shield was fiercely contested and ultimately claimed by Imperial College of Business Studies, whose team demonstrated exceptional skills and determination.

The Corporate Shield was awarded to Akbar Brothers, whose team stood out for their athleticism and teamwork. These awards were a testament to the hard work and dedication of the participants and their supporters.
