With over 150 pre-registrations from both Rotaractors and Interactors, Project “Be Prepared”, the
signature project of the Professional Development Team of the Rotaract Club of Colombo North was
successfully concluded on the 20 th of March 2022, at the Shasthrananda Navodya College grounds,
Dehiwala. The project was organized by the Rotaract Club of Colombo North alongside Interact Clubs of
D. S. Senanayake College, Isipathana College, St. Peter’s College, Royal Institute and Sujatha Vidyalaya to
assemble both Rotaractors and Interactors giving them the opportunity to unite as one.
The sole purpose of this project was to allow all participants to form mutual connections and work
together towards achieving their goals as well as to assist them in developing essential life skills. These
included basic first aid, leadership skills, communication skills, critical thinking, and wilderness survival
skills.
The project commenced with the welcoming of the Rover Scouts from Colombo Rover Scout Troop who
took up the responsibility of conducting the event thereafter. The project included a few interactive
team games as Treasure Hunt, Backwoodsman Cooking and Crash Course on First Aid which provided an
amazing opportunity for all the participants to actively engage with each other while showcasing their
skills along with improving leadership skills, communication skills and quick decision-making skills.
Initially, all participants were gathered and split into teams based on a particular color to represent each
team. The teams were then given a set of instructions to perform in line with the activities and
challenges to accomplish their goals. Afterwards, the winning team was then chosen based on their
combined efforts to complete all the activities in the quickest possible time.
In conclusion, the project concluded on a positive note making it the first ever project in the Rotaract
movement to engage in scout training. Finally at the end of the day, all the participants were full of great
memories to reminisce and gained a good knowledge on the daily life of a scout.
