Future Fusion 2024 Sets the Stage for Change by Empowering Sri Lanka’s Next Generation of Leaders

 

On the 22nd of June, SLIIT Kandy Uni, Pallekele, carried immense spirit and young enthusiasm as it hosted “Future Fusion 2024,” a groundbreaking youth empowerment event aimed at resilience building for Sri Lankan youngsters of the plantation community and beyond. Organized by AIESEC in Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Ministry of Water Supply and Estate Infrastructure Development, Future Fusion excelled at its quest to empower young minds through education, cultural exchange, skill development, and community integration.

 

A number of thought-provoking keynote speeches opened the event setting the tone for the day as guest attendances and insightful panel discussions by industry experts followed. Renowned racer, Mr. Dilantha Malagamuwa addressed the audience on “Inclusive Sri Lanka” through his life story. His keynote speech urged youth to champion equality and diversity, emphasizing the pivotal role young leaders play in fostering inclusivity. Following Mr. Malagamuwa, famous cricketer, Mr. Kumar Sangakkara, joined the stage virtually for a Q&A session on “Youth Leadership.” His address not only motivated the young attendees to embrace leadership roles but also elucidated the importance of integrity and resilience in achieving personal and collective goals. Keynote speaker, Mr. Nalin B. Karunaratne, director/CEO of Ceylon Biscuits Limited, spoke on shaping the future, elaborating the significance of innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainability in shaping a prosperous future for Sri Lanka. Distinguished guest, Hon. Minister Jeevan Thondaman’s attendance as the Minister of Water Supply and Estate Infrastructure Development, showcased his leadership and advocacy towards advancing opportunities for the youth of Sri Lanka’s plantation communities. A panel discussion featuring three esteemed panelists, experts in their respective fields, Dr. Harsha Subasinghe, Founder and CEO of CodeGen, Mr. Aritha Wickramasinghe, Legal Advisor, Presidential Secretariat and Mr. Kamal Geeganage, COO of CBL Foods International Private Limited, offered practical perspectives from the corporate sector on evolving trends in employment and the skills that are increasingly in demand, delivering invaluable insights on the future of the job market and how youngsters can strive to concur it.

 

 

Throughout the conference, young attendees were given the opportunity to engage in hands-on skill development sessions tailored to increase employability. The conference provided workshops on leadership and entrepreneurship, offering practical knowledge crucial for navigating today’s complex world. The event presented youngsters with career spaces, encouraging network and professional growth.

 

Future Fusion 2024 concluded by transforming into a vibrant Cultural Night, where participants celebrated diversity through music and dance. Attendees embraced tradition through enjoying a series of dancing items ranging from Bharatanatyam to a Ravana dance performance, fostering appreciation for Sri Lanka’s rich tapestry of cultures. Conference evening showcased performances that resonated with the ethos of unity and harmony, reinforcing the event’s message of cultural integration for the empowered young leaders of tomorrow.
